Title:  Tooth brushing before or after meals?

Abstract:  It is always interesting to read other Journals. Recently tooth brushing before or after breakfast was treated in the EAPD issue 13,3,2012:107 by the Editor Jack Toumba. He noted that both timings have the same effect on bacterial plaque, so he concluded that the question is a mere academic issue while the real issue is tooth brushing at least twice daily. I agree with him, but Iíd like to suggest a small tip: In the morning it is useful to brush the teeth immediately after getting up, since after breakfast children often need to rush to school and donít have much time. At night children are more willing to accept the task of tooth brushing because anything that can delay going to bed can be seen as positive by them. Current issue In this issue we leave space to the readersí opinions: we deem it useful to know their comments and discussion with the authors. Among the various subjects treated, we publish other articles on orthodontics because in the last issue devoted to orthodontics in paediatric age we were not able to publish all the papers. We are honoured and glad to have finally received a first article from China. Two case reports on the same mandible and maxillary treatment have been submitted from Italy and Japan. From Spain comes an article on renal fluoride excretion after application of a topical fluoride varnish, showing a correlation with the general health status. Mexican authors showed another aspect of the maternal influence on the child. We hope all published articles will be interesting for our readers. Giuliano Falcolini
