Title:  Undergraduate education in paediatric dentistry. A European perspective

Abstract:  Aim The aim of the present study was to survey undergraduate curricula in European dental schools. Methods For this purpose a questionnaire was sent to 140 schools out of which 61 (44%) from 22 different European countries responded. Results The results clearly showed that both theoretical and clinical training in paediatric dentistry varied extremely between the schools. The number of hours allocated to theoretical training ranged from 22 to 280 hours and those to clinical training from 20 to 462 hours. Conclusion The results support the need for common guidelines in paediatric dentistry.
